The Real Problem

Legal Is the Most Expensive Search There Is, and Small Firms Get Squeezed Out

Law is the most competitive category in local search. Directories, large firms, and heavy ad spend fill the top of the page, and a two attorney office can end up nowhere at all. Here is where a small firm usually loses ground without noticing.

01

Every Practice Area Sits on One Page

Divorce, criminal defense, estate planning, and a real estate closing are four completely different people with four completely different problems. A single Practice Areas page gives Google nothing specific to rank, and the firm with a real divorce page takes the divorce search.

02

The Directories Own the Page You Should Own

Search any practice area in your town and the results fill with legal directories. Those sites have years of authority and thousands of pages, and they make money putting competitors next to your name. You will not outrank them everywhere, but practice area plus town is far narrower ground and it is winnable.

03

Clients Will Not Review a Divorce Lawyer in Public

Legal work is private in a way most businesses are not. Plenty of satisfied clients will never attach their name to a public review about their divorce or their criminal matter. That leaves firms with thin review counts while a competitor with more of them sits above them in the map.

Already Have a Website? Look at the Retainer You Pay Your Marketing Company.

Cannone Marketing does not add SEO to a website you already own. We build a new one from scratch, and in legal that matters because most firm websites are a homepage, an attorney bio, a Practice Areas page, and a contact form. There is almost nothing in that for Google to match to a specific matter in a specific town.

Now the money side, which in this industry runs higher than anywhere else. Firms commonly pay legal marketing agencies several hundred to several thousand a month, usually on a long agreement, for work performed on exactly that kind of site. Everybody selling marketing into law knows what a case is worth to you, and the pricing reflects it.

Cannone Marketing is $199 to start and $49 per month, with no contract at all. This is not a discounted version of a legal marketing retainer. It is a correctly built website, your Google Business Profile managed every month, and 100 QR review cards shipped to your office, at a flat rate that does not move.

A Flat Rate With Nothing Behind a Higher Tier

There is one price and no agreement to sign. Here is exactly what a law firm gets for $199 up front and $49 per month.

A New Custom Law Firm Website

A 15 to 25 page website built only for your firm, with a dedicated page for each practice area you handle, a page for each attorney covering education, bar admissions, and background, consultation information, and a page for every town or county you serve. It is hosted within the AWS infrastructure network which provides the reliability and uptime standards of the world's leading cloud platform, with 256-bit SSL, consultation request forms carrying the standard note that submitting a form does not create an attorney client relationship, live traffic stats, a favicon, Open Graph social sharing images, cross-browser testing, and your domain name included. Worry-Free Support means any update you need is handled by Mike at no extra charge.

Google Business Profile Management

Your Google Business Profile is what puts the firm in the map results, and it is the one place a competitor cannot simply outbid you. We fully set it up and optimize it, including a category for each practice area rather than one generic label, services, the firm bio, photos, hours, and every field Google asks for. Each month it stays managed and we respond to your reviews on your behalf, written so nothing references a client matter. Weekly posting is not part of the plan and we will never say otherwise.

100 Physical QR Review Cards

We print 100 QR review cards and ship them to your office. Use them where a public review is comfortable for the client, which usually means estate planning, real estate closings, and business work rather than a family or criminal matter. The client scans the card on their own time with no conversation and no pressure. Nothing is ever offered in exchange for a review, since that goes against Google's policies.

AI Search Visibility

People now describe their situation to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude and ask what kind of lawyer they need. Your site is built with GEO and AEO optimization plus sitewide advanced structured data so those tools can clearly read your practice areas, your attorneys, your service area, and your answers. FAQPage schema goes on every practice area page and location page, and your site is registered with Google, Bing, Yahoo, AOL, and DuckDuckGo. Advanced on-page SEO covers meta titles, descriptions, alt tags, and proper H1, H2, and H3 structure throughout.

Why the Page Count Matters

Practice Area Plus Town Is the Winnable Ground

Firms ask why the site needs 15 to 25 pages. The reason is that Google ranks pages, not firms, and one Practice Areas page is not really a page about anything.

Write out what the firm actually handles. Divorce. Custody. Criminal defense. Wills and estates. Real estate closings. Now multiply that by every town or county you serve. Each of those combinations is its own search, and it is a far narrower target than the broad term a large firm is spending heavily to hold.

Fifteen to twenty five pages means each practice area gets a page written for the person actually in that situation, each attorney gets a page with credentials and bar admissions, and each town gets a page of its own. Legal pages are held to a higher standard by Google than most topics, so clear signals about who the attorneys are and where the firm sits carry extra weight. AI tools read the same structure when they decide which firm to name in an answer.

What Attorneys Ask Before They Move

Why is my law firm not showing up on Google Maps?

Map placement comes down to how complete and active your Google Business Profile is, how close you are to the person searching, and whether your website backs up what the profile claims. Most firms have a profile with one generic category rather than one for each practice area, and a website that never names the towns they serve. Google also allows a separate listing for each attorney in addition to the firm listing, which many offices never set up. One thing worth checking is the address, since Google expects a real location with staff there rather than a virtual office.

How do I compete with the big firms and the legal directories?

Not on the broad terms, and anyone promising you that is selling something. Legal directories have years of authority and thousands of pages, and large firms in competitive practice areas spend more per month on marketing than most small firms bill. What is winnable is narrower. Practice area combined with a specific town, the map results near your office, and the more specific questions people type are all reachable with a real site and a managed profile, and those searches bring in matters that actually fit your firm.

How do I get reviews when clients will not talk about their case publicly?

This is a real constraint and you should not fight it. Somebody who just finished a divorce or a criminal matter often has good reason not to attach their name to a public review, and pressing them is the wrong move. Be selective instead. Estate planning clients, real estate closings, and business clients are usually far more comfortable, and those are where a review card belongs. Nothing should ever be offered in exchange for a review, since that goes against Google's policies and can get reviews removed.

Do I need a separate page for divorce and criminal defense?

Yes, because Google ranks pages rather than firms. Somebody facing a custody dispute and somebody who was arrested last night are two completely different people in two completely different situations, and they type completely different things. A single Practice Areas page competes against firms that built a full page around each area and usually loses. Your site includes a dedicated page for every practice area the firm handles, which is a big part of why the page count lands between 15 and 25.

Does the website need attorney advertising disclaimers?

Very possibly, and that is a question for your state bar rather than for a marketing company. Advertising rules differ by state, and many require specific language, such as labeling the site as attorney advertising or noting that prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome. Whatever your bar requires can be built into the site, and the standard note that submitting a form does not create an attorney client relationship is included by default. Confirming the exact wording with your bar or your ethics counsel is on the firm.
